Embrace and Observe Luminaires Included in 2025 IES Progress Report

ATLANTA, August 24, 2025 – Nightingale®, (www.nightingalelighting.com), an innovative, patient-centric lighting manufacturer for healthcare applications, is pleased to announce its Embrace™ and Observe™ luminaires have been selected for inclusion in the 2025 IES Progress Report.

The Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) is a collegial community dedicated to improving the lighting environment. It publishes the IES Progress Report annually thought its Progress Committee, whose mission is to track significant new advancements in the art and science of lighting worldwide. Acceptance in the Progress Report is based on an impartial judging process by the Committee, which evaluates each submission on its uniqueness, innovation, and significance to the lighting industry.

Embrace was created to push light outside of direct patient view, reducing glare, and contributing to a calmer and more humane setting for the patient. The multifunction patient bed luminaire offers ambient, exam, and night observation modes, with an optional dedicated reading light. Applications include patient rooms, NICU, senior living, long-term care, and recovery rooms.

Observe cloud uses an innovative optical treatment to create a realistic sky effect that does not impede the exam and ambient modes. The luminaire uses a unique combination of optics and color to create a fixture that is switchable between a biophilic sky mode, soothing ambient mode, and exam mode- all meeting the strict IES recommended light level requirements (RP-29). Patients control their own space either through an intuitive wall switch, or with a pillow speaker control.

This year’s report was released at the IES Annual Conference in Anaheim, California. All winning entries will also be included in the November 2025 issue of LD+A Magazine.
